Первая публичная казнь в Минске / First public execution in Minsk

26 октября 1941 г. с целью устрашения жителей Минска оккупанты провели первую массовую публичную казнь. В четырех местах города было повешено 12 человек, среди которых были четыре женщины и 15-летний школьник Владлен Щербацевич. Патриоты спасали бойцов и командиров Красной Армии из плена, давали им приют, одежду, выводили из города. Не все имена казненных в тот день патриотов известны, но именно их героические поступки положили начало подпольному антифашистскому сопротивлению в Минске.

On October 26, 1941, in an effort to terrorize the residents of Minsk, the occupiers carried out the first mass public execution. Twelve people were hanged at four locations across the city, including four women and 15-year-old schoolboy Vladlen Shcherbatsevich. These patriots had been helping captured Red Army soldiers and commanders—providing them shelter, clothing, and safe passage out of the city. While not all the names of those executed that day are known, it was their heroic actions that marked the beginning of organized anti-fascist resistance in Minsk.
